Did you know that yoga is all about doing hand stands, putting your feet behind your head and showing off your skills on instagram?
HAHAHAHA! Just kidding. 😉
What yoga has to offer is much more then that.
There are many teachers, many styles.. You just need to find a teacher with whom you can connect, and feel that what you are doing is not a fitness class.
I believe that in the west we can be really childish (spiritually speaking) when it comes to yoga, and we end up focusing only on the physical body, the gross part of our being, the one which we can see. We become influenced by social media and might think that a good yogi is the one that can do all sorts of things with the body, but this is far from the truth. Yoga asanas (postures) are a very small part of yoga, if you really want to learn yoga you need to be committed, it will become a life journey, not a weekly class.
The more know about yoga, the more humble I become, because I see how little I know. Sometimes I even wonder “I am really suitable to be teaching yoga?”, I believe that this is a question that many yoga teachers should be asking themselves, this makes us progress and really inquire our teaching, our way of living.
I wish you all the best in your journey.
